Alicante
Alicante, nestled on Spain's stunning Costa Blanca, beckons travellers with its sun-drenched beaches, historic charm, and vibrant cultural scene. While often overshadowed by its more famous Spanish counterparts, this coastal gem is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.28 feb 2024
The city is a sea port and a tourist centre. It has a hot semi-arid climate (BSh in the Koeppen climate classification).
The avenue Maisonnave is the principal commercial street in the city of Alicante. In fact, Maisonnave is the sixth most expensive avenue in the whole of Spain, which gives an idea of the importance that this street has. The Corte inglés has in this central street both branches that it possesses in Alicant, one at each end of the avenue.
Santa Barbara's Castle is 166 metres up the Benacantil mountain. It's very strong with great strategic value. It's called Santa Barbara's Castle because the 4th of December is Santa Barbara's day and the 4th of December in 1248 is when it was taken from the Arabs by Alfonso of Castilla.

Saludos,
Mike y Sandra
This beautiful beach, almost 700 metres long, spreads out almost like a carpet at the foot of Santa Bárbara castle. In the past, one of the entrance gates to the city was built in this area (its name comes from a word in Spanish that can mean door, postigo). As it is located in the city centre, and very close to the famous Paseo de la Explanada, the tourism and culinary offering is really diverse, with endless restaurants, hotels and leisure establishments.
It is an easily accessible beach, both on foot and by tram, connected to the city’s main roads and with a promenade that is perfect for a walk at sunset or exercise on weekend mornings. Postiguet has all the services you’d expect from a blue flag beach: a lifeguard, children’s play area, sports area, toilets, showers, physical exercise instructors and even a recreational and educational area during the summer months.

This semi-urban beach is known for its rocky shore and dark sand. The place was very popular among fishermen, as the schools of tuna paid for this area during their migratory journeys. The technique used by the fishermen, which consisted in catching tuna by taking advantage of their migration, was known as almadraba and it gave its name to this area of the coast.
Cabo de la Huerta Coves
From Cabo de la Huerta to Almadraba beach, along the coast, there are small beaches that are difficult to access, and yet which are extremely beautiful. Unlike the rest of the city’s beaches, these small coves receive fewer visitors and allow you to enjoy their wild beauty. La Palmera cove, somewhat hidden and quite rocky, is popularly known as a nudist beach, although it is not an official one. It is followed by Cantalares cove, one of the most beautiful and authentic coves in the area. It is common to see people with chairs, beach umbrellas and Tupperware containers filled with Spanish omelette, and the more adventurous even dare to spend the night in the huts. Before reaching Almadraba beach, you will find cala de los Judios, commonly used by residents as a dog beach despite there being a ban on this.

Alicante Old Town: Beautiful sights and wonderful food
Visitors to Alicante too frequently overlook Alicante Old Town. It is – often quite literally – in the shadow of the magnificent Santa Barbara Castle, perched high above the city. But for people visiting Spain with an interest in history or who love visiting local churches, Alicante’s Old Town district has plenty to offer. There are beautiful cathedrals, picturesque streets and fascinating museums, plus some truly

Town Hall
Alicante Town Hall is an impressive Baroque building that dates back to the 18th century. The site had been used as a town hall since the 15th century, but it was destroyed during the bombardment of 1691. Solomonic columns and imposing towers mark the entrance. Head inside the Town Hall for a glimpse into the history of the town, including the Isabelline-style Blue Room on the top floor. You can find the Town Hall in a stunning town square with lots of shops and restaurants where you can relax and get away from the heat.
Calle Labradores
Calle Labradores is a street with a lot of historical weight behind it. It was once prime real estate for Alicante’s nobility, in particular during the reign of Alfonso X, King of Castile in the 13th century. Today, although not much survives of the original buildings, it is a beautiful area to walk down, particularly early in the morning. At nighttime, this is where the city bursts to life, with restaurants, bars and outdoor seating spilling out onto the street.
It has 292 stalls distributed over an area of 11,100 square meters, spread over two floors.
